Transforming Lives, Transforming the Community Since 1985
Palouse River Counseling has long been a leader in the field of community mental health and substance use disorders in Eastern Washington. Created by the Whitman County Board of Commissioners, Whitman County Mental Health was established as a state designated community mental health center in 1978. It functioned under the county commission until ///2000///, when the county commissions provided for the clinic to be established as a private not-for-profit entity with an advisory board.
Each decade since then has brought an expansion of services to meet growing community needs, resulting in a full range of outpatient behavioral health, substance use disorder, and crisis response services. This year, PRC is serving over 6,500 adults, children, and families living in Whitman County.
Much of the care which we provide for our patients is in conjunction with a wide array of community providers, including medical and substance use providers, social service and housing providers, schools, law enforcement, jail staff, and the courts. Working together toward the same goals of assistance and support, we are able to provide for a person's best possible recovery.
